This month the theme is Neon! And if you know it will be a huge trend in fashion this season! Some trends will come back once or several times in a lifetime. I think this is the fourth time I can remember! It is not my favorite trend, but it is a colorful one.
🇳🇱 Deze blogpost is ivm Internationale bezoeksters in het Engels!
Welcome to the monthly edition of Match made in Seven! We are an international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie. And then we style an outfit based on that theme. The theme of this month is chosen by Emma and is: Neon! Also, take a look at the other bloggers and how they have interpreted the theme this month. (See list at end of post).
Okay, let’s talk about this… in the Netherlands we are now in ‘Carnaval’ week and this means we can become anyone we like… a cowboy, a nurse, a Roman Empire or you could dress like a hooker! Then there is a lot of beer, wine, sex… yes it is, several marriages are going to end this week… OMG! And mostly on a Sunday we have an ‘optocht’… a show with groups dressed up and beautiful wagons, you call it a parade!
And here comes my thought about the theme Neon,… it could be to much fun this time! I was thinking all the time I am dressed like someone who is going out and be partying all night long! I am honest that this was very difficult to put that thinking ‘it is to much, over the top’ away! But,… I asked my mum to take some pictures and She convinced me that it looked fashionable and not Carnaval!
Okay, I trust my mum (74) and voila… my fashion inspiration with Neon!
I love Pink, this neon color is my favorite, I don’t like that yellow one, it is too bright… I don’t want to look like a flashlight!
But,… hey that’s my opinion, perhaps you look stunning in this!
The Hat came not with this studded ribbon, it was my hat from last years Carnaval and had a rainbow ribbon! So I had to fix this in a more fashionable style.
I did not have any Neon clothing in my wardrobe so I had stress… what if I could not find anything? I mean I was not planning to spend a lot off money for this theme, because I know I won’t wear this afterwards.
On a Saturday my friend Anna and I went to a city called s’Hertogenbosch and I was looking for some neon pieces. But the Winter stuff was on sale and nothing new to shop for.
A week later I was by myself in Eindhoven, because I had an intake for my eyes… and there I found this sweater with snakeskin print at Bershka for only 5 euro!
Made my own earrings
I polished my nails with a neon Pink and then I had an idea to make my own Neon style earrings! I polished some shells I had bought an age ago… made a hole in it and voila!
At the Action store I found those leg warmers for only 1,99 and love it how they match my style!
And then… I had this moment… you know, that one! I ran upstairs, looked in my wardrobe and found that funny jacket I have for almost 30 years! Yes,… I am 50 and I know I had this one when I was dating my friend Helmuth!
OMG,… this is perfect!
The 🌞 makes my shirt look brown, but it is black!
After the stress with this theme… I am glad that my mum (she is the shadow in my picture) had trust in this look and I must agree with her that it is not to Carnaval at all.
Funny yes! But that’s okay!
